The Montessori School of the Berkshires seeks a student body diverse in interests, talents, race, ethnicity and economic background and is committed to making the school accessible to all qualified students. While we firmly adhere to the principle that the primary responsibility for funding a student’s education lies with the family, we understand that financial aid is necessary for many families.
Our families typically pay within the range of $9,100 and $16,800, annually, per student, with consideration given to families of siblings. Some families pay added fees for bus service, extended day coverage, and after school activities.
We seek to attract and retain families who are committed to Montessori education and supportive of their school community. To complement what can be provided through tuition revenue, all current families are expected to attend school celebrations and events, participate through volunteerism and fundraisers, and contribute to the Annual Fund to the best of their ability.

The goal of our financial aid program is to help bridge the gap between what a family can reasonably be expected to contribute and the costs associated with attending MSB. Because each family’s situation is different, the range of scholarship awards is quite wide, and estimates cannot be provided. We use thorough evaluative process beginning with your application through Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST), a secure online program created by Independent School Management in Wilmington, Delaware. Among the factors considered for need-based financial aid are income, net worth, housing costs, number of children paying tuition, and cost of living for our area.
Upon receiving the FAST recommendation, Montessori School of the Berkshire’s Financial Aid Committee evaluates the recommended award based upon our applicant pool and available dollars. We evaluate each application on a case-by-case basis and review all applications comparatively to ensure equity and fairness in our decisions.
We expect that if both parents are living, both will contribute to their child’s education to the best of their abilities. We believe that the family and extended family of the student have the primary responsibility for funding a student’s education. Therefore, all possible sources of funding should be explored and/or secured by the family before MSB can consider an award.
Apply for Aid
If your child stands to benefit from and contribute to the MSB community, we urge you to apply for financial aid through FAST and welcome a discussion to explore the resources available that will make it possible for your child to attend our school.
To begin, please access the Parent User Guide, which will answer many of your questions about the FAST process.
