Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is the governing body of The Montessori School of the Berkshires. It is comprised of community members with experience and expertise in areas such as, but not limited to, finances, marketing, administration, alumni relations, and education. Its members are significantly committed to the school’s mission and welfare.


The Board of Trustees works with the Head of School and senior administrators to set strategic goals and policies that support the school's mission and long-term success.

Simon Holzapfel

Chair

Simon Holzapfel has been working with high net worth families since the mid-1990s. After a career in independent schools as a teacher, Academic Director, and Head of School, Simon founded Crow Box Partners at the request of a family looking for integrated financial education and entrepreneurship training. Church Davis

Vice-Chair

Church Davis has worked in Real Estate since 2010 and currently works as a Realtor with Evergreen Buyer Brokers. He was educated at Berkshire Country Day School (beginning in 5th grade), Phillips Academy at Andover ‘67, and University of Pennsylvania ‘71. He has a BA in English Literature. Treasurer

B. Carter White is retired and devotes his time as a volunteer to many Berkshire County non-profit institutions. Before retirement, he was Vice President for Administration and Finance at the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation. Meagan Ledendecker

Secretary

Meagan is the co-founder of the Montessori School of The Berkshires and its current Director of Education. She grew up in a Montessori school with two Montessori teachers and administrators as parents. She has an M.S. in Environmental Education through Audubon Expedition Institute/Lesley University. Todd Covert

Todd is co-founder of the Montessori School of the Berkshires with his wife, Meagan Ledendecker, and the current Head of School. Before founding MSB, Todd taught 6th grade language arts, social studies, math, and science in the Berkshire Hills Regional School District. Cara Davis

Cara Davis is retired from her position as Executive Director of Construct, Inc., a south county organization that serves persons who are unhoused and unstably housed. She is an ordained minister with the United Church of Christ (Congregational) and currently serves as the moderator of the Berkshire Association, UCC. Zack McCain

W. Peter Metz

Peter Metz is a retired academic physician, Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics, Emeritus at UMass Chan Medical School (retired as of 6/30/2023).
